Republican Congressman flees town hall to avoid Obamacare questions

There is no doubt that Republicans are having a hard time answering the question of what they plan to replace Obamacare with. However, one Colorado Republican chose a novel way to avoid answering questions from his constituents about the Republican’s Obamacare repeal. Republican Congressman Mike Coffman of Colorado chose to run away from his constituents, by sneaking out the back of a library where he was holding a town hall.

According to local news station KUSA, hundreds of constituents showed up to the town hall to get answers about what will be happening to their health care. However, instead of being allowed into the main hall as a group to speak with the congressman, the people were told that the congressman was only doing one on one conversations and they’d have to wait their turn.

“The Representative didn’t have a plan. They expected just a small handful of people to show up,” Krondia Siebert said. “We were under the understanding it was a town hall meeting and they were only allowing four people in at a time.”

In fact, so many people showed up that the local police were called in to use crime scene tape to create a perimeter to hold people back.

According to one person who was there, Berthie Ruoff, “My husband passed away and the only way I was able to get insurance was through the Affordable Care Act, Obamacare,” she explained. “I am potentially going to lose my health insurance. I’ve had a preexisting condition. I’ve had breast cancer. What’s going to happen to me?she said with tears in her eyes.”

“My spouse who had health insurance passed away. What do I do? You know, what am I supposed to do?”

But Coffman ran away before Ruoff could ask him any questions. “I am trying to get an answer and I can’t even get in,” Ruoff said.
