Pence Defends Trump’s Undermining Of Judge By Saying Americans Are Used To Him Speaking His Mind

Vice President Mike Pence once again found himself having to twist himself into a human pretzel trying to defend the insane things that Donald Trump says.

This time Pence was attempting to defend the completely inappropriate attempt on Trump’s part to undermine the authority of a federal judge and by extension the authority of the judicial branch.

Pence had a curious defense when asked by ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos if Trump’s behavior was appropriate for a president.

The Vice President responded by essentially saying that it’s not inappropriate because the American people are used to Trump’s behavior. “I think the American people are very accustomed to this president speaking his mind and speaking very straight with them,” Pense said.

The American people are used to it???

This is beyond troubling. Even if the American people are used to it (which in itself would be disturbing), that doesn’t make it okay for the president to try to undermine the judicial branch.

Trump launched a series of Tweets following the ruling of a Seattle judge to put a nationwide halt on his Muslim-ban. Early Saturday, Trump called the ruling “ridiculous” and labeling Judge Robart a “so-called judge.” And Saturday, the Trump tweeted again, calling it “terrible” and suggesting that it would allow “dangerous people” to enter the U.S.

“Because the ban was lifted by a judge, many very bad and dangerous people may be pouring into our country. A terrible decision,” Trump tweeted.
