Republicans Tried to Silence Elizabeth Warren, Instead Over 7 Million Watch Her On Facebook

Today’s edition of epic backfires: Last night Mitch McConnell and the Republican-led Senate used an arcane rule to silence Elizabeth Warren and blocked her from reading Coretta Scott King’s letter in front of the Senate, where relatively few were watching. As a result, the internet erupted in anger and instead Elizabeth Warren read the letter on Facebook where over 7  million tuned in to listen to her.

The 10-page letter was sent in 1986 by Coretta Scott King to Strom Thurmond who was then the Judiciary Committee chair, urging him not to nominate Sessions as a federal judge. The letter was never entered into the congressional record but did we mention that it’s been viewed over 7 million times?
