NBC News Report Confirms Susan Rice Did Nothing Wrong

Evidence continues to mount that Devin Nunes was at best incorrect and at worst lying when he and others in the Trump White House suggested that Susan Rice had acted inappropriately in requesting to unmask the names of Trump associates picked up in foreign surveillance. Donald Trump said in an interview with the New York Times that he thought Susan Rice had broken the law by asking for the names to be unmasked.

As NBC News pointed out “Normally, the identities of Americans are blacked out in transcripts circulated by the National Security Agency, but they may be “unmasked,” if their identities are relevant to understanding the intelligence.”

According to NBC News, Republican and Democratic Congressional aides who have been briefed on the matter say that there is nothing inappropriate about what Susan Rice did. “I saw no evidence of any wrongdoing,” said one U.S. official who reviewed the documents, that NBC spoke to. “It was all completely normal.”

Devin Nunes was forced to recuse himself from the investigation when the Office of Congressional Ethics announced it is investigating if he disclosed classified information when he publically spoke about the unmasking.

“Current and former officials say it is routine, and not inappropriate, for the national security adviser to request the identities of Americans mentioned in intelligence reports,” NBC News noted.
