Republicans Are So Stupid That They Wrote A Memo That Disproves Itself

The only thing this memo proves is that Republicans are too stupid to obstruct justice properly.

GOP memo proves that the Trump dossier wasn’t the origin of FBI investigation.

President Trump and the Republicans spent the last few weeks concocting an entire public media campaign to discredit the Trump-Russia investigation as a pretext for firing the Deputy Attorney General and eventually the Special Counsel.

And today was supposed to be D-Day with the release of their much-hyped memo.

But rather than proving anything nefarious about the FBI investigation of the Trump administration – the GOP memo actually just disproves itself.

The whole argument that Trump and his Republican lackeys were attempting to make with the memo is that the FBI launched their investigation using the Steele dossier, which they claim is a partisan opposition research product.

But here’s the thing – not only do the Republicans not make their case, they actually disprove it entirely.

A sentence buried at the end of the memo in the last paragraph confirms that the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation was launched because of George Papadopoulos and not anything to do with the Trump-Russia dossier.

“The Papadopoulos information triggered the opening of an FBI counterintelligence investigation in late July 2016 by FBI agent Pete Strzok,” the memo says.

This sentence undermines everything the Republicans are trying to say. It proves that the FBI didn’t launch their investigation of Trump because of the Steele dossier.

In fact, it proves that the FBI had way more evidence of Trump campaign officials being in contact with the Russians.

It proves that the Steele dossier was just one small piece of evidence that confirmed a myriad of other evidence that the FBI already had.

And as Democrats on the House Intel Committee note, “This ignores the inconvenient fact that the investigation did not begin with, or arise from Christopher Steele or the dossier, and that the investigation would persist on the basis of wholly independent evidence had Christopher Steele never entered the picture.”

The only thing this memo proves is that Republicans are too stupid to obstruct justice properly.
