Michael Flynn Refuses To Honor Senate Subpoena

Donald Trump’s former national security advisor Michael Flynn will not be honoring the Senate Intelligence Committee’s subpoena. Flynn’s lawyers informed the Senate committee that their client would be refusing to turn over documents despite the subpoena.

Flynn resigned after just 24 days as Trump’s national security adviser when it was revealed that he secretly met with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak and lied about discussing U.S. sanctions relief.

The chairman of the Intel Committee Republican Richard Burr responded to the news by saying, “We’ll figure out on Gen. Flynn what the next step, if any, is.”

It has since been revealed that prior to firing James Comey Donald Trump told the FBI Director to drop the investigation into Micheal Flynn.

Other news reports have confirmed the existence of a grand jury in the Flynn investigation.

The Senate Intelligence Committee’s subpoena of Michael Flynn is part of their investigation into collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Flynn, through his lawyers, had previously offered to testify in exchange for immunity. Flynn received payments from Russia and a Russian-linked Turkish organization that he never disclosed with the Justice Department.

It was also reported Thursday that Donald Trump and Flynn were in contact as recently as last month when Trump sent a message to Flynn telling him to “stay strong.”
